Dorothy Lsoto Referenced for MONITOR Article about Kampala Air Pollution Challenges
Kampala air pollution no longer up in the air
The air quality in Kampala, Uganda frequently registers PM2.5 levels over 200 micrograms per cubic meter, especially in industrial zones. Due to competing interests within the city, these zones with dust and high emissions heavy duty vehicles can often be found near schools, including the athletic pitch at Kawempe Muslim Primary School. MONITOR recently published an article highlighting the issue along with a recent study conducting emissions testing on 6,000 vehicles in the Ugandan capitol. Dorothy Lsoto was consulted for the article about the health impacts of these high levels of pollution and opportunities for Ugandan’s to take actions where they can, such as purchasing air filters, to protect their health.
